Fail. If you break a rivet, you're screwed. You can't really break a bolt for a bolted t-bar. Worst that could happen is it loosens up, and you can just tighten it.

I wouldn't even test rivets.

I'd just stick to bolting to be honest. If you think it's a hassle to bolt. I have a tip that may make it a lot easier for you to install the nut. I haven't heard or seen anyone use this tip before, but it's helped me in the past. Use the button inside the t-bar. Put the nipple of the button in the hole of the nut, slide it into the t-bar. Once you line the nut up with the hole on your t-bar, just screw the bolt in. As you screw the bolt in, the nipple for the button will be pushed out of the nut, and you can remove the button from the t-bar.

Makes it so much easier.
