Yesterday, I bought a steel pipe at my local hardware store to reinforce my forks. It seemed about the same size as an ordinary t-tube, but it ended up being 2 thirds of a millimeter off, but I'll get to that later. Anyways. I took it home, and proceeded to find out that I had blown 15 bucks on a piece of crap that didn't even fit, but being tired and not thinking straight, I decided to cut a long slit in it down its length in order to hammer it together and make the diameter smaller. After I did this, I put it to my forks and it slid in for a bit without trouble and then it got stuck. Being the fucking idiot that I was being that night, I decided to hammer it in a bit to get it going again. To make a long story short, it didn't work. I hammered the stupid thing in about an inch, and then it wouldn't budge so I had to cut the rest of it off with a hack saw. When I tried to put my headset cup back on, I found out that I completely fucked up the threads on the fork. All this took place the night before I am about to go to camp; a camp that apparently has a pretty sick skatepark. So now I am scooterless and forkless, and so is my lil brother, because I took the forks off his scooter due to me braking the ones on my old a. So now I need to buy two, TWO FUCKING FORKS, instead of one, and I don't feel like paying a fortune to razor for a stupid pair of forks. The end.
The moral of the story is: don't, I reapeat, DON'T be an idiot and do what I just did. This whole thread is meant to be a learning example, and hopefully you won't follow in my footsteps...
