Well to get this magazine underway I decided to start making an article. I did this very quickly and it is only a rough copy. There will be alot of mistaes because i havent edited it at all but this article will be going in the magazine for all those people who dont like scootering, just to give them a wake up call.
The point of this thread is to help me make this article better, help me send shivers down people's spine thinking that they wanna be a scooterer.
Most importantly leave comments, i want you guys say and what it is like.. and most of all wat is missing, what else i should add, or what part is boring and what part i need to cut. i will take criticism contructively!

Here we go:

The Sport of Scootering

Scootering. When I think of scootering I think of a great, unknown sport that hasnÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢t reached itÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢s full potential yet, and will not for many years to come. I think itÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢s a sport that many people will gradually get into over time, a sport that is extremely underrated. If you say Ã?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?â?¹Ã?â??scooteringÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢ to a skater or a bike rider the first thing they would think would be an 6 year old kid riding around the skate park around in circles.
This is what the majority of people think of when people mention Ã?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?â?¹Ã?â??scooteringÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢. This article is for those of you who think the same as the majority.
Scootering as a whole is one of many twists and turns. It all started in the 90Ã?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢s when the very first kick scooter was made, and the sport was made. Razor decided to market it, and having a scooter was Ã?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?â?¹Ã?â??cool.Ã?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢ This giant market of scooters continued onward to the year 2000 where the sales started to drop and people no longer rode scooters around.
Since the slump in 2000 people decided to think that only kids rode scooters. This frame of mind is continued onto today where the sport has been growing ever since. People still have the stubborn frame of mind that kids are the only people that ride scooters. This has continued over to skate parks where it isnÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢t Ã?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?â?¹Ã?â??coolÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢ to ride a scooter. People are very slowly starting to change their mind about this due to the fact that people can finally see what tricks and what awesome potential a scooter has, and what can be done on them.
Due to the fact that the majority of people havenÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢t seen these very talented scooter riders tearing up skate parks that people still think scooters are for kids.
People need to realize that scootering is now a sport, no longer something to do in your spare time. This is why I do not understand why scooter riders are not allowed in skate parks and this is the core reason why scootering has a bad name, because everyone thinks that ONLY little annoying kids ride them.
IÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢d agree with skate park owners if scootering only consisted of kids 8 years old and under riding around the park only to fuel annoyance and fustration, but that is not the case!
I realize that this sport is oh so young, but people need to give them a chance, people need to let go of the van Dena against scooter riding as a whole and start backing the sport because one day it will be as big or if not bigger then skating.
Years have passed and it is now 2006. The sport has steadily grown over-time, obviously it won't be as big as skating because skating has been around for over 30 years therefor it is obviously going to be more popular then a sport like scootering which has only been around for a few years. The fact that the sport is as popular as it is now is astonishing, due to the commitment of many riders who help organise comps and start making companies to help fellow riders, and push the sport higher.
Throughout this magazine you will realize the height that the sport of scootering has become, and the fact that the skill level of each rider is rising by the second is mind-blowing. You will see the worldÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢s finest doing their thing, doing what sport they do best. Scootering.

i like the message, i dont really like how it was worded in some spots, but im sure when you edit it you will catch the things im seeing

i like it. i understand what your sayin, too. when i fist walk into the skatepark with a pogo stick, they laugh. but when i start doing tricks, they go "dude, thats fuckign awesome!" and i know its the same with scootering, except scootering is a little more known. i hope it doesnt get big, though. the coolest thing about it is its unknown. itll suck if it becomes just another fad.

Skateboarding
Wakeboarding
Waveriding
Surfing
Motocross
Rollerblading
BMX
Parkour
Snowboarding
Sandboarding
Cliffdiving
ATV/QUAD Racing
All-terrain-boarding

What do ALL of these sports have in common?
They were once reletivly unknown, and then they got known, and are still around, scootering was a fad back when I started, but it died-down (Sadly), we have only a few really good scooter makers and stuff, YAKS Razor, Micro etc, (and our good friends at That make RAD bars) if scootering gets bigger then there will be some good points, we'll get more respect from other extreme sport people for one thing, you do have a good point though.

I stay relativley quiet on the Forum now, but i support this magazine 110% and Gary if your going to be the writer, i ask that maybe you change your writing style a bit....This magazine is already based on something most people dont care much about, and you need to realize that. What im saying is, in your aticle, dont jes write...you need to write in a way that Grabs whoever is reading it, and forces them to sit there and finish reading it. Keep them entertained with your writing...Its hard to explain, but jes try to picture the reader...a person who doesnt scooter, but saw the mag and decided to give it a look, if this is the first article they see, then it has to grab them, and make them want to read on...Your article was good tho, but it can be better..keep it up, and good luck to everyone on this Magazine..make it happen people.

I own SR.
Captivate your audience... don't talk to them.

Quite a few grammatical errors and it doesn't flow well at all.

Constructive criticism.

Umm I didnt really like it because of a subject, which is not original in any way, also I think that all the points listed in this article are quite obvious. And what would be the point in putting such text in a magazine? You seem to be a good writer (apart from writing like 'organise' but dunno, maybe its just australian? anyway all the words should be spelled correctly), but the summary of this article would be:

1.Bikers, skaters, etc associate scooters with little kids and underestimate scootering.
2.A short summary of the history of scootering.
3.Calling like 'Other people need to blah blah blah'.

These are all obvious, and moreover, the magazine is directed mostly to scooter riders, its not a worldwide advertisement of scootering that anyone person is going to see so keep that in mind.
Remember, 'BY scooter riders FOR scooter riders'.

...ehh Im starting a war again, I already see people posting "pete you fucker stop talking shit, gary that article was dank"...whatever...

really repetetive, needs to be more exciting like andrew and steven said.. also maybe state that a skateboard was made as a toy at first then developed into a real thing. same with snow boarding.

But really, itÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢s a sport that many people will gradually get into over time, a sport that is extremely underrated.
The point of this article as to broaden your minds of scootering, to give you a visualization of what scootering is all about, to try and change the stubborn frame of mind for the average skater and BMXer who think that scootering is childish.
Riding a scooter and pulling good tricks on them is a very good way to get enjoyment, and . The fact that it is a cross between skateboarding and BMX makes it so more versatile, meaning that tricks are in abundance.
Also because it is a sport growing like wild fire it just makes it more and more exciting where the sport is going to end up next. Scootering isnÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢t like skateboarding where every man and his god ride a skateboard occasionally, itÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢s an unknown sport, so you donÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢t have to follow the crowd. But that doesnÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢t mean the sport isnÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢t growing, this magazine is just one example of the fact that scootering is becoming bigger after the incredible slump in sales back in 2000.
Also if youÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢re thinking that scootering will never get as big as skating, youÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢re just narrow-minded because skateboarding wasnÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢t anywhere after 5-6 years the first skateboard was made. Now relate that to scootering, Now do you think that this sport is growing better then skateboarding was back in the 1970Ã?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢s and it's ensuring that the growth of scootering is almost assured?
The only reason why scootering is growing so quick is because of the vast amount of individuals who have a mission of making this great sport grow larger and larger into the future.
Throughout this magazine you will realise the height that the sport of scootering has become, and the fact that the skill level of each rider is rising by the second is mind-blowing. They are pulling tricks that you never would have thought could be done on a scooter. You will see the worldÃ?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¾Ã?¢s finest doing their thing, doing what sport they do best. Scootering.
The scooter community is trying to get the word out there for their sport; they want to be heard. After reading this article do you think your mind has been broadened to the fact that scootering is not just for 6 year old kids in their driveway? This sport is loved my many, and has a huge support base. It is only likely that this support base will continue to grow ,join the scooter community.
