Problems with tailwhip

Hey all, I'm having a struggling point in the tail whip that no video or forum has answered. I have the whip motion down, the problem is that I hit the ground before my scooter does. I get in my stance (regular) and I hop and flick with my back foot and the deck whips. My feet just hits the ground before my scooter. I can't seem to catch the damn thing.

Commit to it. Sounds like you're not jumping high enough and you aren't staying over your scooter. Are you pushing your scooter out in front of you? That's what a lot of people do at first and it makes it almost impossible to catch on flat. Ball up and jump higher than you ever have and keep your body over scooter. Keeping your head over the bars will help.

What do you recommend? Kicking with my back or front leg? Also I can't get that high on a hop in the tail whip stance, because you know, you're standing basically to the side and not straight.

You really should be always standing to the side

tuck your knees up and let the deck hit the ground before you land. later you will be able to do the motion faster and will get your whips down better then late pull the deck toward you to catch the deck.

I kick with my front. Although it's not so much about the kick you need to focus on your arms to get the full rotation. It should really only be a little flick with your foot and you do the rest with your arms.

No I don't ride ski, I ride regular. With the front foot in the front like it should be. I just scoot it to the left more so my right foot can be right next to it in a cruise position.

jump higher and try to learn them off of a ledge/curb/bank. you will get them if you keep practicing. I have also found that getting more speed makes them easier to land (when i was learning them, i spent about 2 weeks landing them with heels every time, but the first time i tried it with a lot of speed, I landed it clean.)
