I usually don't like nitpicking at flaws in arguments, but I think there is something to be said. First of all, all the extra engraving and such are in places where the cnc bit will already have already cut from, so those don't add to the price. And besides, if there truly were some cuts from the headtube could be simplified or tweaked, they would make an insignificant difference in the final price, if any at all. Its a huge piece of billet aluminum that gets a long time in a very expensive mill at some machine shop. No matter which way you slice it, its pricey. Any change to the headtube in hopes to lowering cost will also generally sacrifice strength or weight or both. Secondly, once you've purchased the deck/headtube, you'll only be replacing the deck from then on (headtube breaks, its replaced free). If you break this deck, then you will most certainly be breaking phoenixs, districts, tsis, etc., all of which are more expensive than simply replacing the proto deck. Switching out the decks by loosening 3 bolts and a back axle ain't that bad either. I don't plan on buying one, at least for awhile, but I thought I'd add my two cents.
