Proto patent on scs

I love how Andrew created the idea, and made the first SCS, and you guys are upset that he's patented it.

That's ridiculous. "I should be able to make money off of Andrew's hard work and research by basing my product on his and without paying him anything!"

If I made something that revolutionized the scooterverse, i'd have done the same.

I don't get all the unhype. Seeing what Andrew has gone through to finally come up with this contraption and with its first five prototypes in 2008 and being published in early 2009, considering the money AND TIME he spent developing this and making sure the system is foolproof, is exactly why the patent system is necessary to protect the inventor from being taken advantage of without getting anything return for his time, money and knowledge spent on SCS's research&design phase. Things like these don't get prototyped and put into production within weeks or months, these things take years to perfect.

Imagine yourself inventing a teleportation device that will revolutionise travelling as we know it today which you will manage to develop in a garage or a small lab, it takes years of time and years worth of money while your life clock is ticking and somehow you manage to pull it off. Instead of patenting the system how you pull it off and making back the money you spent on its research & design process and mainly making back for the TIME and EFFORT you put into this, do you expect a big multibillion corporation to snatch your system and take full advantage of it in order to build the biggest network of travelling booths without rewarding the inventor(s)? Wouldn't you find it unfair? Sure, you will change the world as we know it, but are you getting anything in return for spending YEARS developing a system that works? Would you like to live the rest of your life in debt possibly because you spent so much money developing a teleportation device without getting anything return for the hard work you made? How many years did you spend perfecting a painting and what did you get in return?

Sure, some SCS clamps might cost higher at some regions but it is only fair towards the inventor who actually developed a system that works, by providing him royalties for the time and money he spent on developing it. Lets face it, the SCS is THE best and the ONLY compression system that eliminates a weak spot on notched handlebars by accepting notchless steertubes. The guy deserves a few pennies, don't you think?

This is bad news everyone stop why are you stoked on it. Idk andrew but this means that SCS is going to cost more to have. Greater cost = less money for us

you miss the point dude. If your all about the money i should guess you ride a ISC ? scs are already expensive if we compare to other compression. making it higher wont change the market ! a lot of people are using scs and they don't really care for the price right ( ICS = 15$ SCS=60$ ). I think its good thing for andrew but also for other company then proto. all other company, maybe, will try to create a new compression system ! who know !

Not true at all, the majority of actual riders can't afford to just drop $100 dollars on an scs.

I couldn't really care less about the patent, just thought I should add that.

no scs is going to be $100. they will probably go up 5-10, if that.

I was over exaggerating it to get my point across to him lol.

I was trying to say that most people cant afford scooter parts at the price point they are at right now.

as a member next generation of scooter riders speaking, i see nothing wrong with the idea of Andrew putting a patent on something that was His design, took HIS time and effort, and completely revolutionized scootering. if andrew hadn't made the scs, think about what our sport would be right now. he has every right to patent the scs.

Dude chill, he invented the technology. Nobody has a patent on BMX frames. Or BMX tires.
Macneil has a patent on the pivotal seat system, and no seats that use pivotal cost more than macneil's.
Gsport has a patent on plastic sleeved pegs, but once again, none of the other pegs cost any more.
It's not such a big deal, and anybody who thinks that andrew shouldn't have patented the SCS is a moron

Should RAD patent one piece T bars. Or TSI one piece decks? Let's patent all the parts

its more about fucking big companies that went to china and are sitting on a fat house gettin rich while proto is still being run by 4 fucking people while there making money off something andrew designed. 80% of the people who own companies have not done a damn thing for scooter riding besides make more bullshit parts

obviously it us only fair that he gets to patient his invention, if there is one company who should get in trouble for this it would be blazer pro, they have made a direct copy of the proto scs, it looks identical apart from the graphics. also rush completly copied apex design but apex did not invent scs but it is still stupid. i actually have a blazer scs, only because i got it in a complete which i had to buy whole though
