1. I've been riding andrew's shit for about 2 years now, and I've never been happier with the way my scooter rides. he put out one bad batch of wheels, which he is replacing for free. All the money he makes from selling goes right back into design and testing, the new brass knuckles/scs are completely solid and easy to use, his wheels have lasted me since january. He charges a lot because he isn't some huge manufacturer, this shit costs money to make you know. and when he's getting into anodizing, cnc and laser engraving things, it gets expensive. Bike parts are the same, frames are in the area of $300, cranks are $1-150 and even just pedals can be $60... the reason I think people makea big deal out of it is because scooters appeal to a younger crowd, a crowd that might not have a job or can't always get money from their parents. Andrew is doing way more for this sport than anyone else, don't forget who runs the website you're posting on.
