pvc can work, you just need it to be like high tensile strength/ thich guage.

If the pvc you are using is bending, it is too weak and could snap at any time.

Schedule 80 PVC is where its at..

PVC? I'd imagine if you were using that as a cross bar there would be alot of creaking noises, and it gonna suck when it snaps, your gonna get impounded by whatever the pipe is connected to.
