lloyd posted a videotutorial on how to drill the forks, here the link http://vimeo.com/8287949

i ordered new forks from http://qcscooters.com/index.html and they aren't even shipped to me yet, but i got an e-mail saying they will be shipped in about a week after i already waited a week, but that's not the problem, in the e mail i got a disturbing message....

"PS:
Dear valued customer,

You will soon be receiving your fork from Quebec Scooters. Being that
it is the first official production of the forks, there is a slight
production error that has occurred. It concerns the axle holes at the
bottom of the legs of the fork. The bearing adapters were pressed into
the holes at the bottom of the legs, which caused them to shrink
slightly from their original diameter which was big enough at first.
This is only a little inconvenience and is easily corrected. The
diameter should measure 5/16” (or the equivalent of 8mm in the metric
system).

Now, all you have to do to correct this is simply to take a 5/16” or
8mm drill bit and drill out the holes where the bolt will be inserted.
This will bring the holes to the right diameter so you can use your
fork. After that, you can just install your new fork on your scooter
and go out and ride!

If you have any questions regarding this it will be a pleasure for me
to answer you.

Again, thank you for your order and enjoy your new fork!"

now, i know its not that big of a deal to drill a hole but my mom is going to be pissed i have to drill a hole in my brand new forks for Christmas, and what if someone ordered them and didn't have a drill? that's another 100 bucks.... and all im saying is they should have fixed the problem themselves.

so just be aware if you choose to order this fork, because they still look awesome, and sound strong, and have a built in star nut, so they still seem like awesome forks...

You aren't drilling a new hole, just expanding an existing one. They probably should drill them themselves before shipping, though. It's an easily fixed inconvenience. With such a small production quantity what is the problem with drilling them themselves?

yea i got pretty dissapointed too, since kotascooter doesnt want to give me my rightful headset (i ordered an s3 and got a s 1) and now this, my mom thinks every scooter company exept inward is unlegit. and since i paid 91 dollars (international shipping) for the fork, ill cry my eyeballs out if i screw something up in it...=[ u can see y i am not happy lolz

there r gonna b free pegs for the customers who ordered before november 10 ;] (me) so i guess that kinda makes up for it

i ordered mine the day after that deal was over hahah, so i got screwed and don't got pegs to make up for it, and i didn't get the discounted price either

I'm guessing that they made the forks, sent them out, and started hearing about the problem, so they sent out that email. I'm sure that they weren't sending them out fully aware that there was a problem. Either way, drilling out a hole a bit isn't a problem at all, and there is pretty much no way that you can mess it up. If you don't have a drill, it's not that hard to find someone who does. Just go next door and ask if they have a drill, it will literally take 30 seconds to drill it out.

its just kind of un-oficial. this never happens with bikes they should have waited untill they tested the fresh batch and made final corrections to there designs. but i dont really care i wouldnt have a problem drilling a hole

but you have to agree that it is unprofessional and should do something about it?

Unprofessional? Hardly, the forks are amazing. Lloyd is legitimate, and it's a simple problem to fix.

Now if the hole was much bigger than the axle, that would be much harder to fix, and a much more serious problem, but drilling things out is easy, most people do it for 1/4ths bolts for their brakes.

If he was unprofessional, he would've just not sent out an email at all.

exactly. Every order was shipped BEFORE I saw the problem. It doesn't take much time to fix and it isn't a big problem, but I wanted to warn everyone before they received it so there was no surprise. Anyway expanding 2 holes with a drill bit takes a fraction of the time it takes to install a starnut correctly into a fork, which is avoided with the built-in starnut.

What happened during production was that bearing adapters were made prior to installation in the forks which had originally the right diameter. Although, when they were pressed into the bottom holes of the legs, the diameter shrunk slightly from its original diameter. This is what caused the problem.

I shipped the forks out as soon as I got them, knowing speed of delivery was a factor. I was unaware at the moment of the problem. It is only afterwards that I realised it and immediately sent out emails to everybody who ordered so that they would be aware of it.

Also EVERYBODY who ordered a fork, regardless of whether you bought it before or after the 67$ deal, got free pegs and free peg bolts. Also those who ordered them ICS compatible got a free compression washer.

And I believe most people who ride scooters have a drill at their house and know (or if this isn't the case, know somebody who knows) how to manuever one. It really does not impare the performance of the fork in any way. They are still the strong/light/stylish forks you paid for and I can ensure you that you will love it.

To everybody who ordered a fork (if you find yourself incapable of drilling the holes upon delivery or whatever other inconvenience you see to this) PLEASE, do not hesitate to contact me! I engage myself to make sure everybody is happy with their fork and can be totally satisfied with their purchase at Quebec Scooters.

here is the email: qcscooters@gmail.com

Again I apologize for this and hope you can understand that stuff like that can happen during mass production. It's just that I hav to learn of my error and double check every fork when I receive them prior to shipping.
When you get your fork though, once this little mod is done, you will still LOVE your fork!

^ so legit <333 unlike kota scooter they sent me the wrong headset a month ago and still haven't replaced it....i wish every1 was as legit as lloyd and inward lol

Edit: why did you make a poll about it? i'd rather drill a hole in a fork and get free pegs than get a flawless fork...i lost one of my pegs so im stoked to have a new pair =D

why are people so critical?

It is understandable since they were slightly delayed and the forks weren't totally perfect. There's also the fact that's it's gonna take 5 minutes more to install and it can be disapointing when you are really excited about trying them out. I was like that with new parts when I was younger haha.

I'll put up a video tutorial to make sure everybody understands exactly what to do. Sounds good?

I wouldnt have its just that i was ordering the fakey brake when it wasnt in stock in tite toyz, and i saw that the headset was 4 bucks cheaper than my local bike shop, so i went for it...i deeply regret my actions lol

The whole on one of the legs on my inward fork was slightly to small so I could only put the axle on one side, so what i did was get one of those circular punch files and filed all around, and it makes for a nice snug fit.

Can pretty much be found anywhere and require no knowledge or fine handling to do, where as a drill is harder to come across and takes a little bit finer handling

I'll get to it tomorrow and get pics so you can see how they look on my scooter. They look real nice haha especially with the pegs on. You'll see when I post pics.

I can't do it now because it's 11:18pm here and I have some exams tomorrow, so it's gunna be pretty hard to get up tomorrow morning haha. But I think it is well worth it since everybody got answers to their questions :)
