Question About Firewire..

Okay, about the firewire I have a question..

After you're done recording and try to upload, Do you view it off Window's explorer ( etc. ) or some program.. And can you delete the clips on the tape when connected to computer instead of taping over it?



I'm a horrible explainer.

But if anyone can understand this please answer?

Its a tape, not a hard drive. When the camera is connected, you watch your footage in a editing program like premiere or movie maker. When you want to capture a clip, you hit the capture button in the editing program and it will capture from when you hit it to when you hit stop capturing and you name the file. There aren't any files on the tape to be deleting, and taping over footage isn't really recommended beucase of quality loss, dropouts and tape glitches. You should use a new tape when your current one is full.

You can capture from your video camera through firewire with windows movie maker. It comes with windows and its a simple and basic program to use.

You can view the files in the editor that you captured from. Make sure when you capture the clips, that you know where you saved them so you can find them quickly.

oooooooo now i see you not using a minidv camera, right?

you cant go into directories with a tape since its raw video recorded not saved

if you notice hes in a DCIM directory on some kind of memory stick so you dont even need firewire for that just go and import the clips into you project from the directory you saved them in.

but just so its easier to help, what kind of camera do you have?
