Question about headset.

I have an fsa pig headset (sealed)
When I was hammering in the crown race thing to the bottom f the fork It got all bent so I didn't use it.
Well, I just put my buff bars on and it wobbles a lot. Is that because I took that piece out or is it because I didn't tighten the bar's/ compression bolt enough?
My friends headset doesn't wobble at all but his bars spin very slow.
Please help.
Lock after I get a good reply.
Thanks.

you need to tighten the top cup a little bit more, or the ring that's right above the top cup (If it's two separate pieces.) You need to find a point were rattle and spin are right in the middle so it doesn't rattle, and still spins pretty well. Once you find that point, tighten the top ring over the cup and small ring and it should stay in that spot.

EDIT:

By the edges do you mean where the bearings sit on it? Or the lip that's further out then that. If the lip where the bearings sit and the inner circle are still good then you should be fine. If not, then try to find an old scooter laying around and take the crown race from that, it should be the same size.

you should be alright, just take out your fork and put the crownrace on, then do what I said in the first part of my first post. If it continues to do it after that, then youll need a new crownrace.

Alright, I'll try that.
But what is the proper way to put the crown race in?

I use a pipe that's the same width as the inner ring and put it over the fork tube into the crownrace and hammer it a few times with a rubber mallet and it goes right in. I tried using a hammer and a screwdriver, but that ended up not working. You could also take it to a bike shop and they have a special tool for it.

Another question: if I ride my scooter without the crown race will it fuck up the bearings inside the headset???
Yes. The bearings HAVE to sit on the race to spin smooth and not be loose.
