just look for a house thats getting built, they will ahve a scrap pile of wood, just ask if you can look through it, youll find some nice sized scraps..if worst comes to worst, you can buy a piece of plywood and a few 2x4s, or if your really desperate you can just buy a piece of plywood and put it on some bricks or something.
