Retroz bending?

hmm well they come stock 18 wide, so unless you cut them down, obviously they will bend easier than 16 and under wide. But apparently they are heat treated now, so I'd think that'd make it significantly stronger

True, they would be.
a second option would be inward

i bent mine down at the bottom where the clamps are

also, that really has nothing to do with the bar itself if you think about it. ReTro bars, other than recently being heat treated were just your typical T bars. The steer tube was the exact same thickness and material as every other standard sized chromoly bar. (4130 and .064' thick I think thats the measurement) And there isn't anything you can really do for that section of the bars, no other bars are any stronger, the only thing that counts is welds. (of course there is exceptions, I'm just talking about the standard 4130 chromoly standard sized T bars)

edit: I noticed you said clamps. What clamp set up were you riding?

all bars bend no matter what size but bigger sizes means more likely to bend if u get short bars it wont mean it wont bend all bars will bend sooner or later

i was riding 2 double clamps

And it REOCCURS. This is what I thought. I'm not trying to give you a hard time or anything but that was your problem. Riding 2 double clamps causes unnecessary pressure where it doesn't need to be. With 2 double clamps, the second clamp exceeds where the fork is inside the bars and actually clamps to nothing. This in return results in bars bending or snapping at the bottom.

True, I am running one double clamp and one single and it's perfect, right at the top of my french id forktube.
