Reusing tapes??

I am filming a video and I was wondering... Is it bad to write over the same tape over and over again?

I used to do it, i didnt notice quality any worse or anything, just that i had to clean my heads on my camera more often. Brian will know the official 'why not to do it'.

Reusing tapes can cause dropouts and glitches on the tape. It can get your heads dirty too. If you don't wanna take a risk of having footage glitch out, just use tapes once.

haha i use the same miniDV tape over and over again for months. is that really bad? can it cause permanent damage to the camera? and how badly will it mess up the footage?

I used to reuse tapes on my old JVC when i first got it. Sometimes i would get those blue lines over my footage, and sometimes i would get new footage overlaying old footage in like bars. Sometimes audio glitches too. If you google for it you'll find out everyone says not to do it. I don't think it does much harm to your camera though.
