Well my dad has been trying to get in good shape since he is 50 and that is when people gain alot of weight so he has been going to the track and running a mile every few days. i came with him today and ran the mile in 8 minutes and 18 seconds. im pretty sure that is VERY bad for a 14 year old so i feel kinda stupid. haha. anyone do cross country or track or something and knows if this is completely horrible.

Yeah, I did a bit over 8 minutes in like, 8th grade. I'm not sure after that, I never really ran the mile again after that, just stupid tracks the coaches made up. Riding a bike is better for you in that your joints don't get totally screwed, especially if you're riding a geared road bike. I just did a mile in 3:06 on my fixed gear, and I was hardly winded after it.

8.18 is terrible, no offense haha. I hate cross country, but I ran it this year. Fastest 2.3 miles was like 13.35 I think. I ran track last year, mostly just ran the 200 (half a lap). Fastest I've run it is like 27.80 I think.

when we did it in PE this year the teach said that average for 14 year old boys is 8 minutes, so your not too far off.

my fastest mile was 6:03, i'm sure i could get under 6 though.

my fastest time in a 5k race (3.1 miles) was 21:53 this year i think.

In basketball tryouts i got 7 13, if i tried my hardest i could prolly get 6 50 best. Back in the 3rd grade i was getting in the 6 50 range when i was in shape.

yeah danny, im know i could do alot better. im pretty sure in like 7th grade i got 7 something. plus i was running in a sweatshirt and jeans with skating shoes on in 30 degree weather with my hands in my pocket. haha

i suck at short distance but im alright at long distance. Came 10th out of 100.
i could of done better if:
1. I wore joggers not skateshoes hehe
2. Trained
3. I wasn't completely buggered before the race
haha
but to you guys this probably sounds like an excuse

before i got mono in grd 7 I could do the mile in a bit under 5 minutes if I tried, and maybe 5-6 mins if i felt like taking it easy. After mono i got really out of shape and my best on the mile after that was around 6 mins and a bit or something like that.
