keeping everyone pretty happy

yeah, i bet the whole section of his country that he murdered was just giddy about what he was doing to them

well, pre the whole paranoid stage he went through where he fled from palace to palace just to avoid getting assasinated, he was doing pretty well...im not saying people were happy or nothing, but in terms of spreading the money throughout iraq, they were doing well.

I don't think anyone deserves to get hanged...except for those crazy west PA church people who think that its wrong to have funerals...

No, he would not. Look at him, do you honestly think was was capable of breaking out of a maximum security prison?

I have been debating this quite a bit.

The way I see it, capital punishment is just not right.

Life (not 25 years, I mean LIFE) in prison would be what he deserves.

Hanging is retarded. The last person hung in history was 1967 or something.

If they INSISTED on killing him, why did they have to do it in such a inhumane way? Leathel injection? Nawww.... Gas Chamber? Nawww lets hang the bastard!

Whats more is that Saddam was a Sumi or whatever and the opposing group of people (forget the name, forgive me) were controlling the execution. Thats why they were chanting, a news broadcast translated it and they were taunting him. It was also reported that after he was dead, the people and guards in the chamber began stomping on his body chanting celebratory slogans.

WTF

The man is being EXECUTED. Isn't that enough? Why would the Iraqi government let the people whom hate him MOST to run the whole operation?

I am NOT saying he doesn't deserve it, or he is remotely a good man, but jesus christ, have people lost their sense of morality?

I don't care what he did, you don't let the people whom hate him the most run the show and you DEFF don't let them stomp the body after its all over.

There a lot more to this, but I think this whole thing was retarded, life behind bars would be much much much better.

I own SR.
I'm not going to get into this in depth but I'll throw in my 2 cents:

- He killed 100's of thousands NOT 10's of thousands of his countries people when he dropped NERVE GAS (mustard gas) on entire Kurdish communities in the north so he got what was coming to him.
- Whoever thinks he should still be in power because he brought economic prosperity is insane. Of course everyone is going to be richer if he is killing people off... less people to spread the wealth among. It's not always about money especially when you are the one dying for it.
- He did do a good job at keeping relative "peace" in his country if that is what you want to call it but only because he was such a brutal dictator.
- Modern day Iraq is a result of Great Britain grouping 3 completely different groups (sunni, shiites and the kurds) together to "help" the economy of the region after WWI which was the biggest mistake ever. They aren't killing each other because the US has troops there or because Saddam is gone, they are killing each other because they each want their own country but there is only one country to fight over.
- For those of you who think hanging him was inhumane and would have rather had him put in the gas chamber or lethal injection that is just retarded. Studies have shown that lethal injection is potentially one of the most painful ways to die. The only reason it looks so "humane" is because the first 2 of the 3 injections they give the person paralyzes them so when they give them the third injection that attacks their entire muscular system and stops their heart, they can't move or scream. Sounds fun... but not as fun as a suffocating to death in a gas chamber. I rather hang from a rope or go wild wild west in front of firing squad... either way you are dead before you even know what hit you instead of being strapped to a table, paralyzed feeling death creep into your veins... yea, real "humane".
- For those of you who think "suffering" a life in prison would have been better, well suffering is "inhumane" too. No one suffers in prison anymore. Place to sleep, 3 meals a day, TV, library, etc. Then we'd get to watch him on TV for the next 20 years screaming at the camera in appeals court.

I have no problem with what IRAQ decided to do with him. The only mistake we made was not doing it for them the day we found him.

We were just talking about this in my government class today, we came to conclusion that gas chamber would be the best because you would pass about before you actually died... not too bad.

edit: dude that took the video with his cellphone got arrested - http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13259309/

Good question, good discussion...way I see it is that he's going to burn in hell anyways, so the sooner he gets there the worse for him. I don't agree in capital punishment, so I think a nice long life sentence with restrictions (no library, etc. if that is possible) until he dies.
