budgeting helps.

If you have any kind of income (job, allowance, etc.) calculate your average spending on gas, food, pot, whatever, and save the rest. It's usually better to save a larger percentage. These are skills you're gonna need later in life, it's better to learn how to make a budget now

Started to seriously save money recently. Putting away about $1000 a month into savings, which is pretty nice to watch grow.

I just try to put away my lunch money as much as I can, because then I can afford a couple grams or whatever. I used to save my money up for cigarettes but I quit buying smokes so now I'm just trying to save money in general so I have some dollars to my name.

I'm 15 and I can't get a job, nor do I have any real exspenses but I make money from odd jobs around my neighborhood. Whenever I get like 200 bucks I put about half in the bank for later in life, but always keep enough for something I really want or if a part breaks etc.
My parents still buy me alot, but no I'm not spoiled, I'm appreciative and they work alot so I do house chores, I guess kinda an allowance

Or that's being smart and planning for the future? I don't know how old you are but the older you get the more money you need to spend on things. I was the same way when I was younger and I now have a lot saved up, and I'm glad I did. He's obviously not keeping it "just so he can have it".

But yeah, I used to be very good at saving, but recently not so much. I've been spending tons on food/gas/girlfriend/clothing/ recently and its getting bad haha.

I figured I'd get this response from someone. No, it's purely to have it. He will be that way for the rest of his life. He's a penny pincher. There's no reason to make your life suck to have money, especially as a kid, because thousands of dollars saved up from your entire childhood doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of life. (He's been able to make money since he was 8.) If you're starving yourself for 10 dollars as a child so you have money to launch into life, you have the wrong idea. He's a dick about chipping in with people for anything, he'll go way out of his way to save a couple dollars, there's absolutely no justification. Saving money is ok, but if you've been spending a chunk of your life saving every cent without ever spending it on yourself when you need to, with no set thing you're saving up for, you're doing it wrong.

Saved up for a t3i a while ago. Now I just blow money fast. Rosay.

I'm like this.
saved for my camera, bought it and since then I haven't been able to save more than $300 tops.
I always end up buying stupid shit or getting $200 then having to pay for a big phone bill or parts. shit sucks.
