scanning negatives

i just got back my first roll of film, and cvs completely butchered the processing, so does anything know about scanning negatives?

i assume i just have to cut them, scan, then invert in photoshop, but i was wondering if anyone else had some tips for this?

i get mine from walgreens its just like cvs and i just edit the color and stuff when i get them on my computer

yeah, i'm going to have to do that since the color and tint are off, but the color's not even, too. like, some areas are more saturated than others. basically the chick that did them is just a dumb bitch, i could tell she didnt know what she was doing when i gave her the film. i didnt get around to scanning the prints yet, though, so ill have to try it and see how they come out.
