SCOOTER MODDING SUPER THREAD!

Alright I'll Try And Explain How Take Off And Put Back On A Headset, Because It Seems Like A Few People Need Help With That.

1. Detach Bar From Fork
2. Detach Screws From Fork
3. Pull Out Fork And Your 22-Ball Bearings
5. Get A Medium Sized Flat Head Screwdriver And Place It Here http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm211/Osirisalexg/P1010039.jpg
6. Use A Mallet Or Hammer To Loosen The Stock Head Set (You Will Have To Hit Very Hard. For A Long Time About 30 Mins. For Both. Also Don't Be Worried About Bending The Tops Of The Head Set, Do What You Have To Do To Get Them Off. A Little Bit Of Liquid Wrench Or Oil Helps In This Process)
7. Once You Have Gotten Off The First Cup Do The Second
8. Once Both Are Off Wipe The Area Of Where The Head Set Was With A Damp Rag To Get All The Aluminum Shards Out Of There!
9. Once Area Is Cleaned Locate Your Top Cup
10. When You Have Figured Out What Cup Is Top And What One Is Bottom Go Find
A. Golf Ball (Fits Well In The Cup)
B. Small Piece Of Wood
C. Locate Hammer Or Mallet (Mallet Works Much Better)
11. Place The Top Cup Where The Stock Top Cup Was And Place The Golf Ball Inside Of Your Top Cup
12. Give It A Hard Pound Until It Is Part Way In (Sexual ;])
13. Then Once It Is Part Way In Take The Golf Ball Out And Place Your Wood Piece Directly On Your Cup.
14. Pound It Until It Is All The Way In. (If The Cup Keeps Falling Out Then You May Have The Wrong Size Or Didn't Get It In Far Enough With The Golf Ball)
15. Correct Size Is 1 1/8 BTW
16. After You Got Your First Cup In Follow Directions 10-14 Again
17. Now That Both Cups Are In Get The 22-Ball Bearing Cartage That Came With Your Set And Place Them In Just Like They Were When The Stock Head Set Was On.
18. Place The Bottom Cartrage On Your Fork And The Top Cartrage In The Top Cup
19. Put On The Rubber Seal Thing Then Follow With The Big Screw Things
20. Tighten Everything Up And Then Your Set To Go

Note: This Is Exactaly What I Did With My Shimano STX Threaded Head Set. But The Steps Taken May Or May Not Work With Unthreaded Ones. Also This Could Be A Much Simpler Process And I Could Just Be Over Analyzing.

How to make one-piece 4130 Chromoly bars!
By Alex Iorio

One piece bars: 4130 chromoly from www.onlinemetals.com I'll post direct links, but they change a lot, so they'll only work for a few weeks I think..

Crossbar:
.875" Outer Diameter, 0.065" wall
http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant.cfm?pid=7333&step=4&showunits=inches&id=250&top_cat=0
Buy a 24" (2 foot) pre-cut piece and cut it yourself, you'll save a lot of money.

Steer column:
1.12" Inner Diameter, 0.065" wall
http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant.cfm?pid=7341&step=4&showunits=inches&id=250&top_cat=0
Same as above, buy a 24" (2 foot) pre-cut piece and cut it yourself, you'll save a lot of money.

1. Use a 7/8 metal drill bit to drill a hole in the top of the steer column (through both sides), then cut that hole in half. This makes a nice notch for the crossbar to go in.
Now most people probably don't have a 7/8" drill bit for metal, so there is a different way to do it. Use a 1/2" drill bit and rotate it back and forth to make the 7/8" holes in both sides of the steer column.
2. Use a grinder saw thing and smooth out the holes, and make sure that the crossbar is level when you let it rest in the notch. A drill press helps for this part too.

3. Once the crossbar is completely level when you press it into the notch, you should grab a rubber mallet and go out into your driveway. You want to put your crossbar into the notch, and bang down the tabs so they are touching the crossbar and holding it in place. They have to be really tight and hold the bar completely still!

4. Center the crossbar in the notch and T-weld them in a handlebar jig/take them to a professional welder.
5. Drill an 11/64 hole in the bottom of the steer tube, about an inch and a half from the bottom. Use a jigsaw or hacksaw to cut a slit from the bottom of the tube to the hole. The slit should be in ONE SIDE ONLY!
6. Put on grips/barends and go ride :)

kk thanks for that aj, your a legend man, btw, ryan was there really a need to butt in and call me an idiot...i was asking a question which had nothing to do with you, so next time it would be much apriciated if you could just mind your own business.
