you guys are slightly mistaken, for example buffs are 100% alu, and there strong shiz.
its not so much about the alu, its the way in which it is welded, welding alu can weaken it soo much.
some of the first proto's i made with no gussets just pure welded aluminum were given to a flat rider, who bent them in a week.
But to keep the strength that the buffs aluminium holds you need to be careful with where you put welds.
on my new bars they have gussets with open ends where there is no weld. through my proto's i found they only ever broke at the weld.
the alu was genneraly strong so the new gussets means that the bars are both suported and keep the alu strong and not have it weaked.
also my bars have a small steel peice(wieghing only 60g) put inside, around where the bars are expected to break.
so with 3.2mm wall thickness, internal steel reinforcment, and no weakening to the aluminium.
they should hold up as well as, if not better than buffs.
