becasue the way clamps work is that the clamp squeezes the bars, WHEN SOMETHING IS INSIDE.
in scs, nothing is inside the bars, so if they had slits they would like massively bend, crack and shit.
You can put a forktube in your bars with scs, however, and that will work.
