seat post idea

if this idea is pointless to post or it has been done or any other reason it shouldnt be here lock it.
i bought a shadow seat post and it is about 12 inches long. I ride my bars at around 18 inches. that means that the seat post only goes into my headtube about 6 inches. and there is about 4 inches of just headtube. I am not to sure on how strong the headtube is since there is less piping in it (because the seat post is shorter than a stock ttube). What i did is put a piece of piping in from my fork so it goes up and hits the seatpost). Now i have a fork reinforcement and a headtube reinforcement since the pipe is about the same size as the headtube. Do you think this idea is worth doing?

i dont have the right pipe in and i wanted to ride in my driveway so i just put some tape on the bars...

is it actually inside the fork? if it is yes i think thats a decent idea.

the pipe goes from the bottom of the fork up into the headtube. so yes it is in the fork.

This might be good, the weak point is where the fork reinforcement ends but, as it's in the middle of the bar, the force applied to it might not be big enough to break it.

yep agree nice jib i would use it. how is the pipe held there? bolt it or just make it tight in the fork?

the reinforcement pipe is held in my tape wrapped around the bottom and the clamps to clamp the bars to the fork hold it in a bit too. i figured this idea would be better than having no pipe and just headtube. the seatpost and the pipe for the fork reinforcement touch and the fork reinforcement fits pretty snug in the ttube so i thinki it should give it good support.

I have my fork reinforcement tube sticking out a bit, but since I ride a stock t-tube I don't need it sticking out as far as what you have. Plus it makes it lighter because the t-tube is aluminum, and the piping I used to reinforce my fork with is steel.

Oh, and btw, get some grips on your bars dude...

seat post idea owns. I loved my seat post bars... if i ever have problems with my rad's ill just go back to those... so gnarr.

with mine the seatpost sticks maybe like 4 inches down into my stem and its just fine it does not matter if you have that extra space between the post and your fork.
