Matt deffinatly does have a good point there... Im not too sure on his idea but I think it would be a nice idea to refresh SR once in a while.
Thats not saying its a hella good website already, I just beleve it has a tiny bit more potential

Photo Competition (drawn every month)

How to enter.
Go take a photo of one of your mates, or a pro at a demo, sesh etc etc. If its not a digital image, get it scanned into a nice sized jpeg image (under 200k). Email the photo to comp@skateboard.com.au. Include your name and address, who the skater is and some detail about the trick sesh etc.

Judging
Each month we get some guest celebrity or loser friend of ours to do the judging duties. What they look for is a combo of good quality photo, composition and of course trick. No posing yo. Only landed tricks please. Previous monthly winners can be seen here.

Misc
The photo has to be one you (or ones of your mates) has taken. Dont try and scam us with pics taken from other sites of scanned from mags. If the image you upload is more than 200k it will not qualify. If you have already won within the last 12 months you wont win, unless its rediculously good. you pro photo g's cant win either, this is for amateurs only. I think I draw the line that if you have had a few pics published in mags well, you dont get squat. I may also frown upon mega industry flow dogs who really dont need more proddy. Dont send in more than 4 shots per month and dont send in any that have lost before unless we spceifically say its cool to do so.

Well i didnt think the same people would try winning every month... I would only be entering like 1 or 2 months per year (with an actual video). That way it gives a variety of people a chance to win. Again with the "cant win more than once in a year" thing... i think that would be best.

Picture/video of the month displayed on the first page would be a really awesome idea. I think the moderators and/or andrew would be capable of choosing the video who 'wins' because I doubt that any rider capable of making a good video would be immature enough to act like a child if another video was chosen instead of his.

i believe this would be good if you had like 3 weeks of the month in which to enter/ send vid blah blah, then all the vids are posted in one thread at the same time and then voting is available for that week.

winner is chosen by some method:
-admins
-public vote
-respected riders

however and then yup i think that would be awesome.
Also there should be a length limit on vids otherwise it aint fair. like one minute. As if someone sends two clips and then phil enters aussi scoots 2 lol it wouldnt work.

also matts discount idea is all good, it just depends on whether sr can afford it, i believe riders will find it a good enough prize to just have their video respected for a month

anyway thats just me, this is one for the admins

i like the idea of this whole thing but i think that whatever month you submit your vid in, it would be revealed on the next month (example: i enter a video anytime in december for it to run in january) this would get rid of the whole "last-minute-vid" problem.

and the idea of a discount as a prize in the SR store is bad because it comes out of andrew's pocket EVERY MONTH. the prize should be respect and bragging rights.

and there should be a specific thread group thing for these contests with one thread per month that only the admins can make but everyone else can still post in them.

lastly the polls would need to be fixed in the threads for this to work (unless the one on the news page is used)

i second a video contest between east coast v west coast, but not just like a month. i m talking about starting it in jan and we present a video by novmber and vote till jan winner gets bragging rights and may be a little discount
