I don't get how you guys ride in slip-ons. My feet are so narrow and long by the time I get a pair of slip-ons that fit my length they're all floppy around my feet.
Also, I don't get how you ride in canvas shoes. I just destroy them. Suede or leather with one piece toe caps is the way to go. The least stitching to bust, the better. The Nike Mavrks I'm riding in right now are starting to bust stitches all over. My éS Edgars have a one piece suede toe cap that has a rubber toecap underneath, sort of like Chuck Taylors, just not as thick. I have two pairs of these Edgars right now (one worn around school for a few days, the other unworn).
And I would KILL (or, you know, trade the unworn pair) for a pair of them in one of this color
