wow, you've just f*cked yourself.
First off, Ska didn't directly inspire reggae. Ska branched out into Rocksteady, when then lead to the creation of Reggae.
i listen to every single one of those bands, and i know ASOB and BTMI! personally.
the aquabats have like 3 "ska" songs on their newest record, and they DONT PLAY SKA ANYMORE. they dropped all their horns, and only have an alto sax when they play "super rad" live.
i KNOW sublime has some ska songs, but they do NOT strictly play ska, which is what this thread is about.
and Catch 22 sucks now. 'Permanent Revolution' is a terrible album, and they've been going downhill since like a year after they released Alone In A Crowd.
LESS THAN JAKE HAS GIVEN UP SKA. they dropped their horns, and In With The Outcrowd is a terrible album. Every album up to and including Anthem is good by them.
and go f*cking listen to the clash. half their music is Ska. listen to Rudie Can't Fail, Revolution Rock, Guns Of Brixton, and a sh!tload of their other songs. they combined all kinds of music into what they played. They were heavily influenced by Jamaican ska, rocksteady & reggae.
and Madness slowly digressed from ska after the release of the album, 'Absolutely'. They released a cover album with a bunch of ska/reggae covers of old Jamaican ska classics recently tho; called The Dangermen Sessions.
Don't tell me my facts are wrong. you honestly have NO IDEA how much research and time i've put into Ska music. i pretty much devoted my 4 high school years entirely to it. I've been to 70+ ska shows, i've probably seen the majority of the bands you listen to multiple times, and i have quite an extensive amount of ska music on my music library. I'm sorry to say, but unless you're f*ckin' Tommy McCook or the late Desmond Dekker, don't try to show me up on Ska knowledge.
DONE. END OF RANT. F*CK YOU.
