So what's wrong with the RUP deck anyway?

Hey, so I'm just curious as to why people go with custom decks instead of the RUP. Do they break really easily or something? I mean, for $70 with free bars + random crap you're going to need a pretty impressively strong deck to beat it in long term value. Why not just buy 4 RUP decks instead of a Phoenix for example?

These aren't rhetorical questions - I'm sure there are great reasons to go custom, I just have no idea.

they feel like a toy, there a great deck if your a smaller rider, but there pretty tiny, and arent balanced very well

i have one, i dislike that it is only 4" wide, the headtube angle is only 80 degrees(terrible for me bc i have 20 wide bars) you have like no foot room, and its not concaved like most so you dont grip very well, the rup is probably one of the most reliable decks, just not the most comfortable to ride

no foot room you always flip out and its too light it feels like it will snap everytime you jump

I ride street with my rup deck, and I've had it since last october, so coming up on nine months? It isn't that uncomfortable for foot space since I ride with my feet spread apart, and I don't notice the crappy hta, until I ride someone's pheonix ahaha, but it's a really good deck for 50$, if you're on a super tight budget, but the reason why most kids probably don't buy it is because they have the money for pheonix's or tsi's ect, and want what the pros ride, most likely.

Pft, you guys just suck if you loop out on it.

I love my RUP deck. The only thing I don't like is the headtube angle. I wish it was leaned a tad bit more back.

I don't loop out at all and I do ride vert/big park..

I was actually riding one for about 4 days a few days ago when i was waiting for my tsi, and at first i HATED it but once i got used to it, it wasnt actually that bad. I went on beast mode on flat/tech, but i just couldnt stand the footspace.

Well, I ride rups. My bars are like an inch too short, so I'm somewhat lacking on footspace, but taking out the brake and riding brakeless fixed that. If you've been too mollycoddled by your Phoenixes and don't expend any effort to catch your whips, then you might have a problem with it.

But the longer you ride on rups, the better you are when you switch to another deck, which is why starting out on something like a phoenix or a lucky is a bad idea.

That was my main thought when I picked up my RUP. If it's really shitty, then at least it'll make me a better rider by forcing myself to try!

Maybe once I get a job I'll go District or something, but for now it's fun to ride even if it's kinda lacking on room for me. I'm a pretty big guy and I was wondering how everyone else managed to squeeze themselves on lol

TBH they are good decks, even though you have little footspace, feels like a toy and HT angle is terrible you get use to it after a while and they become great when you have had it for a while, and they are pretty cheap too
