sponser?

One thing a lot of riders don't realize, is that sponsorships aren't all about free products. A sponsor is like a new friend, and you have to be as loyal to it as possible. It's more about supporting the company than the company supporting you. You have to give to receive. On top of which it's not just pure skill that gets you sponsored. A lot of companies nowadays look for experience alongside riding skills, as well as your personality. One thing kids do very often is kiss ass, in hopes it will get their foot in the door. That will not get you anywhere, if anything you're just showing the company owner / team manager how annoying you can be by never having your own opinion.

That's why when a kid asks me to help them get sponsored. I ALWAYS tell them that sponsoring isn't like beating a video game, where you anxiously feel accomplished when you finally get a sponsorship. It actually adds a lot of responsibilities. So I also tell them to ride for fun and let the sponsors come to them. If they are good enough, they will come.

i understand what ur sayin 100% and i do ride for the fun of it
i just simply mad this thread tho kuz i was board and i just wanted to see if kids had a choice to be sponserd who would they pick but like i said u are right about what ur sayin .

why dont most of u kids stop asking to be sponsored and get a job and buy your own shit? getting sponsored is cool but dont send out videos asking. why not just shred at a comp and have someone walk up to u and ask u to be on their team? wouldnt that make you feel alot better?

WORD.

Razor came up and asked me, that was probably the most gratifying feeling, being asked, rather than me asking the company. Earning it based upon competition skills, than keeping it based on video part skills. Only company I've asked was Eagle, but only because I had heard that Marcel would have loved to have me on. Just wasn't sure on Razors team policies, or if there was some sort of contract keeping me to only Razor brand products. So I asked, and we worked out a deal.

I've came to the conclusion that when you ask, you basically test the team manager / company owner to see how soft they are. Bothering them enough to talk them into a sponsor. Sure, there are a handful of riders that can be acceptions. But if they wanted you on their team, they would have asked beforehand. They have enough worries, they don't need kids they aren't interested in bothering them for sponsorships/free parts.

way to turn a simple thread into you boasting about all your sponsors. this isn't the "All about sponsors thread" its about what company youd want to have send you free shit. everyone knows thats not all its about

Boasting?!?! Who's boasting?! Sorry for posting opinions/stories on an online forum, was under the weird concept that that's why forums were created in the first place...
And Obviously not, when even well known riders still make sponsor me videos. And well known riders get dumped, booted and added to teams more often because they don't understand how sponsorships work. And there are still the handful that take their sponsors for granted, instead of being greatful, which I most certainly am. Most likely one of the top few that are as loyal as can be towards their sponsors. And once again, sorry I posted to educate the uneducated about how our industry/sponsors work.

In a sense you could say sponsorship s like a job, Your sponsor asks certain things of you and you do so, In return they compensate you in various ways. This could be through product or financial benefit.

And seriously, Kids.. Do some research before you go and bad mouth or say anything ill towards one of the most influencial riders the sport has seen, He is THE reason i started doing supermans his ridding has influenced mine in so many waysand has also influenced so many others. and if you think i am "sucking up" "kissing ass" or anything, Go fuck yourself. I am merely saying a few kind words towards a friend and team mate.

This forum is so over run with feeble minded childeren its mentally retarded. For anyone to upright disrespect and Well Respected Rider whom has only tried to help the sport and has also helped make it possible for you to enjoy the sport as it is now today.

This thread is rediculas and only shows the level most of you are on.

Sponsorship is NOT about getting free product
Sponsorship is NOT about gimmie gimmie gimmie

Sponsorship IS a buisness relationship
Sponsorship DOES demand a lot of Loyalty and Trust
Sponsorship IS hard at times
Sponsorship IS privlage NOT to be taken advantage of

There is a well known rider whom has NOT learned the lessons of sponsorship and gets on a team because of his name and gets sponsorships terminated because of breaking the loyalty and trust and just taking advantage of the company/team in general.

Thanks, buddy. My riding influenced you so much, which is great. But now you're one of my favorite riders to watch/ride with in person, haha. You've came a long way since the Sixth Street days. And you're spot on with your post.

We aren't arguing, haha. Sure, there were the couple kids taking stabs, but we were quick to politely inform them of our intentions. I take it upon myself to educate unsponsored riders because if we have the sponsor whores as our top riders in the future, it will only make us look bad. And plus a lot of kids don't realize how much of a responsibility it is. Like I said before, sponsorships aren't all sunshine and free products for skill alone. Not to take away from your thread. Everyone has dream sponsors. And it gives you a goal to shoot for when you are ready for sponsorship. But there is a lot of information that could help them along the way when they cross that path.

i wanna get on the fat kid skooter krew.
