Sr fork tube

well i broke my v2 fork tube today. cracked it and i was wondering like how could i fix it.
should i cut the tube and get a new tube then re weld it or should i grind the welds around the bottom or what.
i would like some help from someone who has done it before so it doesnt become worse. lol i dont think it gets worse haha

i cut mine from the very botton and put a solid tube on and welded that then drilled a whole through for the compression and it works but its pretty heavy

i cracked mine about 4-5 months back, so i went to a muffler shop and they welded mine for free and i just grinded down the weld a little and it has not had a sigle problem with it eversince. so i recomend getting it welded.

i just sent mine back to buff haha. he knows the specifics about fixing it but he cut it down below the crack, and welded a new pipe on for me. he will know what type of weld that is best for it so just wait for his reply in this thread

ok, yea ill just wait for his reply. does anyone know what size pipe it is. my uncle has been welding for like 18 years soo im sure he can weld it but i would like to know what size and what type of weld

Ok, I have done this for a rider named RAYAN FUCKING SIMIAN and he hasn't broken it yet soooooo...

First, you have to find an old fork which you can take the forktube from. Cut from the bottom of the race to about where the threads start.

PS: Cut your SR fork about a cm from where i had cracked.

Second, find a solid peice of steel that will fit flush in between the 2 forktubes.

Last, leave about 3mm of space between the 2 headtubes and weld. Once you have welded, you can grind down the welds a little bit. Don't grind down too much because it will affect the strength. Just grind it down enough so you can get the headset race over the welds.

uhh idk about that, sounds weaker than the immensly thick tube that was on it that i broke.



BUFF can u tell me what size the pipe is so i can just go get a new pipe and get it rewelded on please
