star nut in stallment

screw the bolt into the starnut, then hammer the top of the bolt in slow, steady taps. the key is not using too much force so it stays perfectly aligned, not crooked.

you can strip the bolt this way...but what I did is even worse, i just pounded it in with my fork LOL. it works fine though

which is why i said slow, light taps. it will take longer, but it won't damage anything.

another alternative is to use a rubber mallet or put something in between the hammer and the bolt to prevent damage when hammering.

edit: also, even if you do happen to strip the bolt (which is veryyyyy unlikely unless you're retarded and you don't have a clue what you're doing) it costs next to nothing to replace it anyway.

take a socket that fits just around the metal rim of the screw.. take a screw driver that can fit through the socket and the hole of starnut.. put the socket on the screwdriver like a shishkabob and then put the "shishkobob" though the hole of the starnut and hammer the screw driver

its very possible to strip a starnut this way thats why your supposed to use a socket and a rubber mallet.

yeah, if you're dumb. as long as you're gentle and take your time with it, it will go in perfectly each time, which is what i explained in my previous post.

*waits for "that's what she said" comments*

u could put the bolt through the bottom of the fork and put the starnut pointing in and tighten the botl from the bottom of the fork. best thing iv ever done

^^^^^^lol i noticed that but just use a socket and a mallet and once you get it in put the bolt in the starnut and "GENTLY" push it so you dont bend it until the bolt is straight up and down than your all good
