switch from scs to hic ? pros vs cons

my son currently has a threadless/scs setup. I was considering switching to hic setup and realize there would be a small weight savings....but what else is the pro and con of this? It seems that scs is heavier but more stable and solid. Also i'm assuming the only thing i have to buy is hic specific bars/ correct height and a small double clamp.....Is this correct???

and who has hic in stock? and or better brand to buy?

I was leaning towards lucky nwv2 bars....but saw they dont sell clamps

lucky's nwv2 bars are very strong and come in hic, but if you want a good double clamp for oversized bars take a look at scooter zones oversized clamp or a proto half knuckle

For the clamp, like brody says, a Scooter Zone clamp or a Half Knuckle will work best. Stay away from District clamps though, since they tend to strip easily.

SCS eliminates the slit that HIC doesn't. Other than that the only thing it saves is money (although it includes a clamp and everything needed..)

Anyway, yes. HIC bars and a good clamp are all you need, or you could start buying your son some muscle milk and the problem will solve its self.

you could buy the hic bars first and run them in your scs untill you get your oversized clamp

no, you couldnt, because you cant have a slit in scs, and you need a slit for hic, so you would be cutting your bars shorter. DO NOT DO THIS^

umm retard he can just stick a peice of pipe in his bars untill he buys the clamp
thus making him not need to buy it all at onc and not need to cut his bars down

SCS is bulky. HIC is so much better. SCS is a heavy clamp, all the weight is in that one spot. for HIC, the weight is more distributed so it isn't noticed as much. also, HIC doesn't come loose as easily as SCS does. HIC looks a lot nicer too, in my opinion. knuckles are big and bulky, they take up a lot of room and just look nasty. it's so much extra, unnecessary weight.

For HIC, you would need new bars. RAD bars are amazing, and light. So are lucky bars. You can get RADs at http://www.freestyledepot.com/. You can get lucky bars at http://www.luckyscoot.com/. You'll also need a new clamp. If on a budget, you can buy a stock pro model clamp from http://www.inward-scooters.com/ and stretch it to fit. Or, you can buy a scooterzone clamp from http://www.thescooterzone.com/ or a Proto Half Knuckle from http://www.freestyledepot.com/. District clamps work perfectly fine, as long as you get new bolts. The bolts it come with make the clamp strip. I replaced the bolts in my black one, and it lasted a while. I ended up giving it away to a friend when I got my SCS (that I traded to get HIC). That's basically all you need to get for HIC. Install the starnut, put the shim on your fork, tighten down the washer/headset cap, and you'll be good to go.
