tape heads

when I try to record it says my tape heads need cleaning
my freind said this costs alot to get done
or is there like a cleaning tape I can put in my camera to clean it out?
I know yu can do that with VCR's

yes, happens to me alot. im not sure how much the tape is but allen has one. basicallly you just put it it in and play it for a bit.

I got myself banned.
Search google or ebday for a mini dv head cleaner, they go for like 10 bucks. And to prevent it from happening again, stick to using one brand of tapes. What Alex Peasley said dosn't really apply to newer cameras, thats more for vx1000s since their old as hell (10 years now?)

Yeah 10 years. I would have a capture cam for any high-end 3 chipper, just to be safe.

No... people with VX's and stuff get a seperate camera to capture with so they don't wear there heads out. They probably wont have any problems though unless they have a vx1000 and maybe GL1 since their so old and their heads are weaker since they were produced such a long time ago. Dont worry about it.

I thought I was going to have to like get it taken apart and that usually costs more than the camera

reeves has had the "clean tape heads" message come up for about a year and a half now.. he just hits it really hard directly on the top of the camera and it goes away. haha his camera is old and ghetto.

At least mines fine :)

the camera im getting dylan which is like yours im getting a kit and it come with a cleaner may you could find it on this site bestpricecameras.com
