Technical metal/Djent

anybody here listen to any tech metal bands like periphery, veil of maya, betraying the martyrs or corelia? It's all I've been listening to lately.

Listen to the "Ruination" album by Job for a Cowboy, and ignore everything anyone says about them. Theyre first album "Doom" ruined their death metal reputation and got them known as more of a grindcore band. Then "Ruination" came out and it was insane.

I actually liked DOOM though it was the first I had heard from job for a cowboy and that was when grindcore was very new to me, I'll check ruination now.

I listened to a few song from the ruination album and it sounds pretty good, its more like straight up death metal than technical metal or grindcore but I like it. what are your thoughts on the black dahlia murder?

DOOM was a good album, dont get me wrong haha. Yeah Ruination is a lot more like straight death metal, but listen to the drums and a lot of the time changes and shit. Thats where the tech comes in. That albums insane when you break it down.
I gave them a chance a while ago and couldnt get into them for some reason. Im gonna look into them again.

You like JFAC and The Black Dahlia Murder, so Im guessing youre more into the death"core" style?

nah I'm actually sort of moving away from that style a little, I'm more into progressive metal and mathcore, check out the human abstract, corelia, art by numbers and the number 12 looks like you. those bands pretty much explain the types of metal I'm into. don't get me wrong though, I still like death metal and deathcore like suicide silence, tbdm and thy art is murder etc.

Some of those bands you mentioned are sooo good haha.
This is more just technical death metal, not really any of the "core" stuff, but check out Meshuggah if you dont already know them.

I've been going to abr shows for years and years before they got huge, know all the dudes and always get passed the mic when i get up front :)

i put their name in there just because i know the guys. they are really tech though but you're right, not djent by any means. the lead guitarist who writes the music is a genious, and matt greiner (drummer) is disgusting.

some other sick brutal bands:

breakdown of sanity

abacabb

after the burial

wasted potential

the acacia strain

It seems like youre talking about different styles of techy death metal/metalcore/deathcore haha, but the bands youre listing are sick.
After the burial is ridiculous. Abacabbs sick, but it sucks that they had one album and broke up :/. My friend just showed me within the ruins the other day, but I like what Ive heard so far.
