Isn't it a little ironic to have "google is the gateway to heaven" in your sig?

For a fresh lens, go to opteka.com, and choose opteka 6.5mm with Canon APS-C compatibility (for t2i)

Not likely. If you're going into HDSLR's you had better have a job, lenses are 200-800 for the most part unless you want L series glass.

I say get a one chip camera with a screw on fisheye and make/buy a handle to learn on. Going HD isn't as simple as just getting a t2i and pressing the red button.

having a dslr setup is not cheap. Yea, the lenses are interchangable, and yea, you can achieve shallow depth of field using the right lenses for it, but they cost a lot aswell. If you just got into cameras, i'd suggest you get a used panasonic GS series (minidv) or a hdc-sd9 (flash/card), they have plenty of manual control to start learning with until you feel you need more control over the camera. After all, a t2i is still a camera for PHOTOS, not for film.

if you're still looking for a cheaper lens for t2i, then look for used equipment on skateperception forums.

That's idiotic, if you were told to buy a $25000 RED setup would you?

If you want to get into filming, lurk Skateperception and google stuff and LEARN.

DSLRs are so prone to the jello effect that filming lines is hard to get a good clip if you pan fast. Here's an example-
http://vimeo.com/1945079

A good DSLR setup is easily going to cost you $1,200 for a T2i body, fisheye, 50mm 1.8, handle, and rode mic. They're awkward to film with hard to keep steady. The batteries run out really fast, as well.

Someone get TomK in here, he knows what's good with DSLR filming.

Because when used correctly you can manage some beautiful shots. A LOT of BMX and Skate videos are filmed on them.

I agree with you, some people put out extremely nice DSLR footage. Especially coming from the M4/3-DSLRs, such as the Panny Gh1/2 series. Kids who are just starting to get into filming buy a T2i and have no idea how to work it so they put out horrible footage.

I literally had a local who hated filming with a T2i so he bought a Canon Xh-A1. He renders all his videos in SD because he does not know what he's doing and he films in auto mode, which shows he might as well have saved his dad two grand and bought a consumer HD video camera. For those of you who doubt me, here's a picture of him.

Oh.... Dear...

And I've found I haven't had any issues with lens-jelly as I call it since I got my Glidecam, probably the best thing I've bought ever in my film life.

Also a downfall of DSLR's for new filmers is shutter roll. You can;t have too slow of a shutter speed or you'll blur and you can't have too high of else you can get those dark panels scrolling on your shot.

There are many things you have to be aware of and account for when shooting DSLR but it's just so rewarding looking back at the footage. I never even got close to being as hyped on my HVX footage as my 60D stuff.

So bottom line kids: Get yourself a regular mini dv camera or one of the low end memory card cameras and work on it. Theres no reason for you to spend $600 each lens when you don't know what constant aperture zoom lenses are and why you need them.

PS: Jona, come on now. Skateboarding looks amazing on DLSR, what have you seen?

PPS: Joe, that is the worst jelly I have ever ever seen. I was appalled until I read that the footage came from a Nikon D90. Then I wasn't surprised. I'm glad there has been improvement in the DSLR world since then!
