yo can you guys explain to me the difference between a track bike and a conversion? i need to know because im bout to buy a fixie and my friend tells me i need to make sure its a track

A track frame has horizontal dropouts and doesn't have a derailleur hanger. A conversion is when people make a road bike into a fixed gear, so the drops are usually vertical, so they're not ideal for riding fixed.

Donald, if I wasn't riding mustache bars I would be riding those Nittos. Seat/post is dialed too, I want a silver Thomson post.

I'm getting closer and closer to my dream set up.

I'm also meeting up with a guy to sell the aerospoke today. Hopefully he doesn't flake..

I was about to say that you should get a gold seat post clamp and a gold King, but you already have a black King. Cause your bike needs something to go with the cranks. Gold tensioners? Also, non-driveside pics? Let's get real here.

Idk, I kinda like the subtle gold. I might with the clamp cause its small.. maybe paint my tensioners gold.. I didnt intentionally give a non-driveside pic. It's just how I had it in the garage haha.

Hopefully I'll sell the aerospoke today and pick up the black imd laced to a phil soon. I may need to relace the rear to a phil as well.

Next is a new chain, sick of the purple. I'm looking to eventually get rid of the All City cranks and get some sort NJS cranks. I'll probably end up with Sugino 75s to a Phil Bottom Bracket.

My fixie i just got today. Its a conversion frame, which i still dont understand what the difference is, but i love it, its my first.

Centurion Frame.
Velocity Deep V's Wheels.
Continental tires.
Purple Oury Grips.
Mks pedals.
Sakae sr Crank.
White Chain.

I have a blue chain too but no use in putting it on right now unless i change my shit up. Im bout to get purple Animal Edwins instead of ourys and maybe new bars. The only thing stock is the fork and headset. I dont care about the fork but i need a new headset.

Track frames have dropouts that look like this:

while conversions, which are road frames, have dropouts that look like this:

See, the dropouts are different. The track dropouts are better because they are easier to adjust for single speed/fixed gear. Sometimes road frames have even smaller dropouts so it's nearly impossible to get the right chain length. Track frames also tend to have a tighter geometry.

Higher head angle
Higher seat tube angle
Shorter chainstays
Shorter wheelbase
Higher bottom bracket
Less fork rake.
Very responsive and has sensitive steering.

This is the most important difference in geometry because with fixed, since the pedals are always spinning, you can't keep your inside pedal up during a turn. With a roadie you can, so many road bikes have lower bb's. If you have a conversion this can means you'll have to be more careful when turning.
 
ohh. i get it now. those pics made me understand. but yea soo fucken fun i just started today after i bought this bike. the only thing ive noticed about the turns is that sometimes i hit my foot on the front wheel which seems a bit sketchy but otherwise it rides very well and nothing bugs me.

You don't have foot retention either, clips and straps will keep your feet farther back on the pedals so you won't have as much toe overlap. They'll also help you actually be able to stop and go.
 
i would like to get clips/straps for the pedals but i doubt i will because theyre surprisingly expensive. do you guys know where i could buy a quick release setup for my front wheel? everytime i take it in the car i have to take off the front wheel and its a pain in the ass. also do you guys know of any tutorials for tricks because id like to learn some basics

What Donald said, you can get cheap clips/straps for really, well, cheap. Take your bike to a shop and they could probably hook you up with a skewer, I don't think it would be that much.
