I dunno if this has been done before, but I got a really good idea on the way back from the park today, and it goes a little like this:

You post what trick you need help with and what you think you're doing wrong, etc. and then somebody else who knows how to do the trick gives advice in a quote and/or posts a trick that they need help with.

Hopefully this should eliminate all these 230948172847923847239487 million threads that have been made on the same trick, since nobody seems to read the nice helpful sticky that danny posted a while ago..

Anyway, I'll start this off.

I was at the park today trying 360 whips and I can do normal 3's fine, whip catches and 180 whip catches perfectly fine, but when I go for a 360 whip, I always underrotate it for some reason. I think it might have something to do with when I through the tailwhip, but I dno't really know.. Anyone have any tips?

ok well i had the same problem for a while, but then one day at TIC i asked jesse and he told me he could do it becuase he used his momentum after he caught the whip to throw his body the extra 180.

like when jesse does 360 quad he does all 4 of the whips at 180 then he uses all of his momentum to throw his body around, i tried it and sure enough after about an hour of practicing i got em dialed, so i suggest trying that if you get what im saying

anyone wanna give me advice on 720's? i can get around for it fine its just i can never land and roll away. i've seen a vid of myself trying it and i noticed my head is almost facing up when i spin so i cant spot my landing. any tips on how to stop myself from looking upwards???????????
thanks, I guess it kinda makes sense, but whenever I throw the whip properly my rotation just seems to slow down and I end up doing a 270 whip.. I guess I'll just practice them for a while until I get it.

ugh, i hate how kids assume every trick should be easy as fuck to do. Not at anyone specifically in this thread or anywhere, but in general. I used to spend hours at a time out riding my kicker just trying fingerwhips and 360 whips and stuff. I don't really take pride in doing some of my more 'impressive' stuff. Like dub fingers/whip to bars and stuff. Those came easy to me after little practice. All the persistence of trying and trying and trying and trying fingerwhips/tailwhips/dub whips/360 whips and finally landing them, and now having them pretty consistent, is what pays off now. How many dub fingers have i done ever? like 3. How many whip to bars have i done ever, im pretty sure its 4. I don't do these often at all, because i don't really have pride in landing them, its like its somewhat difficult for me to do, but they came way easier to me than other tricks I had learned. If you watch any of my videos and see me doing a certain trick a lot, thats usually because I have worked way too hard to get that trick landed to let it go to waste, and landing it is always like :). Anyone else think the same way as me on that subject? Either way, i still think i'm right. lol.

I definately agree with you 100% man. I find that tricks that I learn by accident without even putting my mind to learning them are tricks that I barely ever do - for me an example would be truckdrivers, because I was trying to get 180 bars on flat consistent and I decided to try a truckdriver and got it first try, but I barely ever do them at all. But the point of this thread was pretty much to stop all these unnecessary threads that keep circulating around in the tricks section. I can only hope that it works...

What i think you mean dibbs, is that if you see a trick you desperately want to learn, and you practice and practice and practice. Eventually you land them and you feel sooo stoked, and you want to keep doing more of them, so you do because you get the same feeling as you did when you landed it the first time. Thats the way i felt with my bri's and my very first tailwhips.

sticky?

try going faster

catching heelwhips/switch whips/fingerwhips. i need to learn how to do this. I'll try a heelwhip off my kicker but it just goes in slooww motion, and it just feels horrible. Same with switch whips. I need to know how to catch them so I can catch fingers.

use your wrists to spin it just like normal whips. it might be hard at first to rotate your wrists the other way but once you figure it out once youll get them dialed. then youll be able to spin it fast enough to catch.

Do what eric said. Just practice the rotation until you can do it as fast as tailwhips, and then try and see with which foot you kick it with better (for me I kick it with my back foot and try to catch it with my front foot = the opposite of what I do for tailwhips). Catching it is the hardest part though, because for a while you might land them sideways, so you have to catch them and pull up on the bars really hard so that the deck doesn't slide under you.

any advice on inwards and 360 bars and rails?

basically just find where you're comfortable barring during the 360. Try doing it at different rotations, while youre actually spinning such as 90, 180, 270. Whichever one youre able to catch without fuckin up the rotation, stick with that. After you catch it however, keep ur head turning. Dont even pay attention to the bar. Try to level out while doing it also as to keep the deck under you.
