yeah that's the only chance i have of getting a respectable place in the AM part because it takes me a bit to get used to a park so if i came and rode it once i would be screwed

alright, i have decided that i DO NOT WANT EVERYONE AND THERE MOTHERS COMING TO THIS EVENT EXCEPT FOR THE PROS AND WHO EVER ELSE IS COMING UP FROM CALI! the reason being, is i have never held a scooter competiton, there for lack of experence. i just met these people that are holding it, and they seem really cool, but i dont want to have everyone come, and then somthing happend,(hypethitcly speaking) and everyone be pissed off at me because somthing went wrong and blame me.

heres the deal, im going to be working on this comp, making it as completly organized and set, so that everyone will feel that it is a good comp. once i have done this, and know how to do this, then the next event, for sure, have everyone and there mothers come. because then, i would know what to expect.

as for andrew, eric, josh, and who ever else, i DO WANT YOU TO COME UP AND RIDE, cuz i need real pros for this comp to make it legit, but just keep in mind that i have never done a comp before, and i could use your help as well. this will be an experement on how to start with organized scooter competitons, and i want you guyes to be a part of it.

we will be planning on haveing an off-comp ride, at some local tocama parks to film a video. if you guys are willing.

i get all these questions about the comp, and seeing if its worth it for kids to spends hundreds of dollors on coming all the way over just to enter an amature comp, and the truth is i have no idea. so i want to play it safe, and see what happens with the locals and pros.

so remeber that this event on april the 30th is the first competion for scooters in 5 years, and i am organizing it. i have very little experence in organized competions, but i will do my best to make the best out of this comp. Agein, this is an EXPEREMENT! so i need to see if its worth later for kids to come flying out.

any other questions regarding this event, you can aim me. you know the drill. thanks guys - KC

KC dont tell people not to come. Me and cary, Riley and even david all know how the comp is organized and we can help you. But for sure it should be in a JAM FORMAT. David wants to judge cuz he sucks and might not have a new skoot either. Riley even wants to judge. so what i am saying is if you really want to come to a comp then come. Because if KC cant handle running it then someone else that knows how to do it will.

alright then, but i dont want david and riley judging, the kids who are gunna ride, dont know who they are, and think that its stupid to have someone who they dont know judge them, its gunna be me and the 2 other officals, brent and tavis.

ok you guys dont even know how real comps are done. and kc there needs to be at least 5 judges, especially if its in a jam format (which it will be because thats the way TZ does it) where five riders are riding. and believe me riley and david wont do what you said jason because they are around scooter riders everyday and also know how hard certain tricks are and realize a big trick not landed is NOT better than a simple trick landed, they know the difference between sketchy and clean and hard and easy tricks and they also know the importance of using the whole park not just a corner.
KC you need to set it up in a jam format too because one rider in one run sucks and the only comps even done that way anymore is the x-games and other "proffesional" crap.

EDIT: kc i i didnt know who was judging me at the bmx comps, so if the riders have a problem with not knowing who is judging them then that sucks for them. I think someone who has been to real comps before should hold it, because KC, no offense but you dont know what you are doing.
[ Edited Sun Apr 03 2005, 07:47AM ]

wow another edit: KC did you say brent and trivis judge??? hahah thats BS they are the managers of TZ right? I bet they have nover even ridden a scooter before. How can they judge? WTF this comp is going to hell.

I don't know how Thrill Zone runs their comps but I think this would be the best way to go about it.

Classes:

Beginner = 15 years old and under
Am = 16 years old and older
Pro = OPEN

*If you feel that your current age group does not provide enough challenge then the Pro class is open for all ages. Especially since this is the first competition in 5 years and the first any of us have ridden in except for a select few then that means there are no points standing to determine who should ride in what classes so I feel an age seperation is the easiest way to divide the classes until we get a well established series where we can take into account skill level and points standing to determine classes.

Comp format:

I haven't yet decided what would be best here. Either Jam or Runs.

Is that not our end goal? If our goal is to take this mainstream then we need our comps to resemble the real deal in every way shape and form which is why I would support individual 2 minute runs, however, I do not feel anyone in this sport is up to that challenge (by yourself in front of a thousand people for 2 minutes ready to give a top notch performance? Not a chance.) A Jam Sesh (10 minutes or so) would just be such a more comfortable atmosphere and less stressful so everyone can just focus on their riding and not who's watching but then that leans more towards "having fun" and not actually competing and riding your best to beat the rest which is not what this sport needs. We need people riding to win.

Judging:

After what happened to me when I rode against Jarret for Japan I DO NOT trust any judges who do not ride.

Beginners judged by top Pros OR top Ams
Ams judged by top Pros
Pros judged by top Ams

If Cory says they do a 5 judge system then pick the 5 most experience Pros and Ams to do the judging.

Judges will judge on Variety (lots of different tricks), Consistency(land majority clean) and Amplitude (what tricks you are doing and how big you are going).

I want to hear any questions comments or complaints so let me know what you are thinking.

my opinion:

jam format, five judges, and a best trick comp

i see you guys like jam format huh? sweet!

well Andrew you said somthing about making this comp in runs like mainstream stuff, that would be cool but not as FUN as a jam,Xgames is not really as fun for those riders as other comps and jams were there is less pressure, see the comp is always better when its fun thats what its all about, people DO still ride to win in jam format just as hard as in runs, but what is nice in jams is that you have more time to show more tricks and sike yourself up for the BIG tricks, plus alot of main steam comps use jam format now anyways like the "metro jam" in bmx. and the flatland part of one of the bmx comps i went to had a modified jam, each had like aminute then the jam started but that minute was pretty much just an introduction. I also dont think the classes should be divided by age because if there is sombody young and really really good then he needs to be in a higher level class (which you said) but also if you are forced to enter in the higher class and suck because of age then that person may just give up and not enter cause its no fun sucking againts pros :p . If someone that is really good enters am and destroys it by far then they should 1. be bumped into pro, or 2. be disqualified/"sandbagged". So it is up to the person entering into the comp to decide how skilled they are compared to others. and if someone that sucks enters in pro SO WHAT that is their fault they will lose and top pro will take home more cash(assuming there is a pro purse...). We should not force people to complete prerequisits just to enter pro.

I just wanna help KC organize this since he posted about not wanting too many people to come, cause the more the marryer haha. and since im going any way i will be there to help and right now im trying to see what you all think about how it should be run. So EVERYONE show up itll rock.

well usually with an entry fee for a contest at TZ they let you ride for like 2 hours before the comp.

I was talking to KC today at school and i realized that if the comp starts at 5:30 and also will feature inline, and skate then i dont know how it will all fit in, because the comps i went to both started at 5:30 also and one ended at 12(but there was also a vid premiere) and i got out of the one the other day at 9:30 and that was only bmx not other comps too. So we should try to get alot of people to go so skoots go first like KC said awhile back. that way we are sure we dont run out of time. Or, KC, you should try to talk travis into starting it up earlier like at 2 or 3 o'clock.
