I can drill it in my woodshop class for free.

I really do not understand why you guys think I can't file them down. I'll try it tomorrow and let you guys know how it goes.

because filing it will just smash the threads and make them wider

Ok so I filed down the threads a little bit and took the fork into a bike shop and they installed a star nut without a problem. The compression bolt just barely screws into the fork and the top of the fork tube doesn't go to the 2nd bolt.


Thats how much I filed. I could have kept going but I didn't have the time. Thanks for the help.

just a warning
if the compression bolt barely threads MAKE SURE YOU GET A LONGER COMPRESSION BOLT if not you may strip out the starnut

Idk if i did something wrong but i had a longer one and it bent really easily.

Which part bent? The top where the alan key goes or at the bottom where it threads?
