That's how I was for the longest time. Just spin your bars while the scooter is still on the ground and practice catches.

Throw on the way up, catch at the top and pull up to keep your feet on at first. Then when you are pretty good at them, you can throw them and catch them at the top of your jump. Also, practicing throwing them while holding your scooter off the ground really helps.
Here's what I did to learn them:
1. Go in grass.
2. Put one foot on the deck and hold the scooter in the air while you keep one foot on the ground and one on the deck.
3. Literally throw barspins while trying to keep your foot on the deck and the scooter off of the ground until you can do it without fail.
4. Take it slow at first when you're actually trying them and then gradually pick up the speed.

so you have a top of the line scooter and can't even hop bar?

Yes she does.
Problem?

Also muse, I had the same thing as you with barspins, i could throw them and i'd catch them but land with my feet off the deck. What I did was practiced throwing them with the scooter on the ground, you know what i mean? I guess I'd just pull the front of the deck the tiniest, unnoticable bit.

Uh, wrap your bar and keep the hand you dont wrap with in the spot where your bar will be catch with that hand then when your done wrappiing grab back with that hand, and on a fakie tailwhip try to only hop as high as you need to get the deck arround, it helps to have the deck almost on the ground when it gets around to catch your ballance again, hope it helped!

Yes she does.

Try throwing them kind of late. As in jump then barspin, instead of jumping and throwing the barspin at the same time. That will probably help you with keeping your feet on. As far as hitting your hands/knees, I think that will just come with time and practice. I used to hit my knees trying barspins with 18w bars, now I can barspin 22 wide crows no problem.

^ it's not that big of a deal on flat it's the half pipes and air outs that are dangerous. I'm fine on flat and thanks guys I'll try it:) for the kid who talked shit about me having a good scooter jealous much!

if your gunna do fakie whips, make sure u stay centered over your scooter. if your body is leaned back you will most likely land on your back wheel and smash your head. just think of it as a normal whip that's what i do.

and for catching barspins, lay on your back and just do barspins like that. once you get comfortable enough go out and try it flat. jump high, level out before throwing the barspin, and catch the bar with your catching hand. try and spot it. if you practice enough, you won't even think about any of these steps.

What I did to learn barspins was just sit in my room and throw them and catch em, for like a minute straight every like half hour then I ended up getting them down slowly. and for the tailwhip fakie, do you guys mean halfcab whip? If so, when I do them I just ride fakie and when you slide out of them like once your partially turned just hop and do a tailwhip and it will seem like you were just doing one normally because you already have momentum. Makes them easier.

whips in fakie, just lean forward, and dont catch too early
barspins when you throw, use your throwing hand and follow the bars with the outside of you palm, then just have your other hand ready to catch
