dude, that fork that was arc welded got obliterated.

you should not arc weld something that small and expect it to look good man.

uug... haha

im glad youre trying to make parts but its important that you look into it.

first of all.

- wrong process (arc lol) Use tig welding if possible.
- it was ran too cold (the weld is pretty high up, and doesnt seem to show alot of fusion)
- lots of slag inclusions (tiny pits that have the electrodes coating stuck inside from bad rod movement and low amperage)
- and a bit of splatter from getting too far from the material. (The distance from the arc and the base metal should be about 1/8inch to 1/4inch)

I would try my best to get a tig machine and practice with that, or have someone else tig weld it.

Remember this is all constructive criticism.

thanks john. yea i know i suck at arc. ima learn tig soon. but i cant aford a machine. but i have only arc welded for 3 weeks. the first fork in the pictures is arc but that is my best ever. the second was about 2 weeks ago.

my shitty welder has a broke amp gauge or what ever it is called. so idk how hot im running it. but i know it is to hot when i weld 1/8 plate and it turns molten red on me. so i turn it down from that.

i will be gettin a tig soon but im not sure when.
thats not good, you can still adjust it though, if you know how high your machine runs at you can figure out where you are by turning the dial all the way up and finding about 80-90 amps (before you weld) and adjusting it from there (after a stringer) for a better weld.

Electric arc welding is mainly used for industrial work anyways, Tig is what you should work at for nice precise welds.

You can get really clean discreet welds with a tig.

Ive gotten certified with mild steel, spring steel, stainless, aluminum, magnesium, titanium, copper, and inkanel with TIG.

Only problem.. i dont have my own tig machine yet =(

so i cant really weld anything until i either have that, or start classes again in spring.
