Mine are beat up. Every pair of bars that are painted start to chip.

Powdercoat chips, face it. Paint will always get taken off, unless there's some revolutionary thing that protects them and is way too expensive.

Nothing is indestructable. It's still paint, not a metalcoat. But still powdercoat is durable than just spray paint.

My metalwork teacher told me theres this paint they invented called micro paint or something like that and it chips off and somehow it finds its way back and covers up the scratch.

ye I checked that site out before I posted. I thought that your teacher was saying that the paint that was lost somehow like magically regenerated itself on whatever was painted or like flew back on somehow lol
