vx1000 accessories

LCD Monitor: No, don't get one. It's a waste of space and money. Use the viewfinder or just wing it during a line.
Capture Cam: Just buy a cheap mini dv camera to "capture" or playback off of. This will make it so you dont have to use 17 year old heads twice as much
Considering HD: You may want to even just sell it, because the only reason to have a vx1000 is to get a MK1 fisheye, and those are 300+. Selling the VX1000 while they are still worth something and saving for a Canon HFS200 or even a DSLR like the canon 600D or 550D would be smarter if you want the camera to last you another year.
Repairs: Guarenteed you will have trouble with the VX1000 in the near future. The heads will get dirty, maybe even get a body hit, all that good stuff. This is running you probably more than half the camera's value. If you're not willing to absolutely just craddle this thing in your arms and make sure no one touches it with their fingers, then you should definately go HD. They don't handle abuse well.

Now, if you don't understand this, go to my favourite filming website forums.skateperception.com and lurk for the good part of 2 weeks, and you'll start understanding the TLC people put into a VX setup.

In my opinion, if you really don't know much about VXs then they aren't worth using. Your best bet would be to sell it and go HD.

If you really wanna use it, lurk SkatePerception and learn about them. Google is your best friend, and doing a quick search will answer all your questions.
