Vx2000 vs. HV30

Im currently looking for a good transition from my Sony handycam DCR-SR42 to another cam. I have been filming for a decent amount of time and want to take it to the next level. I dont know if i should get an Hv30 or a VX2000. Im not sure if the VX shoots in HD but i know that the HV30 does. Money is not a factor for me becasue I have saved up enough for both. What should I get and which would be better. Please help because im tired of filming in 480p.

Edit: I also use Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9.0 . Which camera footage would work best with that editing software or does it not make a difference?

Edit: I also found an HV40. Is it any better than the HV30?

haha jk but they both get amazing footy

vx2000 pros: full controls over settings, bigger and more steady, wider fisheyes (MKI), i dont know if you consider this a pro but its bigger and so people take you more seriously for example if your filming in a crowded part of the skatepark with a vx2k on a tripod or holding an hv30 which do you think people are more likely to snake in front of?
cons: not hd? i wouldn't consider this a con but it is to some people, old so you cant get a new one with warranty

hv30 pros: cheaper fisheyes if your on a budget, HD, twoniel footy looks amazing, sharp bright colors, cost less new than a vx2k cost used, you can buy new with warranty
cons: less controls, fisheyes arent as wide

im sure theres more pros and cons but i cant think of any
overall id take an hv30 with a twoniel over a longlense vx2k any day fisheye shots are another story haha

Coudltn you put a MK1 on a hv30 with step down rings?

yes vx2k has more manual settings and the hv30 has SLIGHTTTTT rolling shutter that isnt even noticeable when filming sports, but the hv30 still shoots in hd and is still way newer. its smaller and if you want ill make you a handle

also get an atr 25 mic, then the audio will be better than the vx2k audio. then you're golden.

also yes to the mk1 question, you need rails though

also, what kind of computer do you have? ram/ harddrive space/processor.. if you want to go hd you need a pretty decent computer.

Tony im probably gonna go with an HV40. how much will you make the handle for and will you ship it or will we meet up at htown one day if you make it. and what do i need rails for?

like, free if i have enough material. or w/e the material cost if i dont. and the rails are if you want a full sized death lens on it because its alot more heavy so it could rip off the threads then you're fucked.

i have a opteka baby death. i like it. it fits good on my cam

Tony are there any differences between the the HV40 and 30? and what add-ons should i get for it
