Watch or record footage from a DV camera with a S-VIDEO cable instead of DV?

Could watch or record footage on the computer with a S-VIDEO cable connected to the dv camera to computer?

You need to have a USB device like dazzle that has S-Video in, or your video card has to be S-Video in. The quality won't be as good as firewire though.

Naw, I'll just buy a DV cable then since I have a DV port installed on my lappy.
