Welding Custom One-Beice Bars

I am planning on welding and creating my own 4130 chromoly bars. I have a TIG welder, and the fact of me being able to do it is not the issue. The problem is that I have read that you can just bring it to any normal auto/muffler shop to get custom bars welded. Am i mistaken or dont you need to weld your material (4130 chromoly) with chromoly TIG welding tips. If so, these auto shops usually dont carry them and it costs alot to buy, considering they are usually sold by the pound. If I do and probably will decide to weld my own bars, can i use and low alloy steel rod to make the weld, or do I have to order. If thats the problem. does anyone know of any welding shops in NYC that can make this weld?

Home Depot does not weld. Lol.
Most car/motorcycle body or muffler shops can do chromoly welding. You don't need a chromoly tip, you can use a generic mild steel or steel alloy I'm pretty sure.

No clue about the rod though, I don't weld my own stuff. All I know is you gotta do the weld FAST, chromoly bends very easily under heat.
