welding folding mech

im getting my old a folding mech welded, but will that work or will it no do anything?

the thing with welding, is that its putting alot of strain on the joints, because welding dosnt have any give. but with bolting it has a slight give so its not putting as much strain on the joints. your better of with finding a way to bolt it.

just get it welded then buy a new scooter when it breaks, i would if i had the chance to get it welded

yeah get it welded but if its really expensive then just find some bolts.

i would rather bolt it then weld but if you could weld it for cheap go ahead. but it wont be very strong.

weldings only good on the new A's cuz theyre hard to bolt. ive got an old A and bolting it works fine

depends on how good it was welded

yep, if it was a good job then its much better than bolting it and its lighter.

a good weld can have an average tensile strength of 50,000 lbs + depending on the process.

you are not breaking that if you did it well.

id put some bolts in and then weld it and weld the bolts to mech
but thats just in my opinion

lol. the whole purpose of welding it is that you dont use any bolts at all man.

if you did what you suggested youd just be wasting the bolts and makin your scoot heavier/uglier.

and if the bolts were of a different metal or alloy than the scooter and filler or wire (depending on what process you welded it with) could cause the weld to get contaminated, or possibly not even flow together making it weak and leave a mess.

but my old a has big dents from the original bolts so i just wleded it but now the mech is starting to warp a bit, anyone help?

im welding mine myself once my scooter comes in. ill let you know how it works out

id put some bolts in and then weld it and weld the bolts to mech
but thats just in my opinion

cant do that. usually you might be able to get away with welding different alloys together if they are similar, but ferrous and non-ferrous metals are a complete no go.
