i couldnt find anything on this if there is but.. im looking to make bars and maybe forks but i need a welder that can weld chromoly that is like .065 thick and that isnt to expensive and maybe some tips on welding... thanks =)

I dont really understand what you're asking. Look in your local phone book for a welder and go talk to them about it

wrong section for this type of thread....but yeah listen to what david said.... look for either a lincoln electric or miller welder.... a mig welder would work fine for this type of material and is the easiest welding process to pick up on your own.... and be prepared to spend around $300-$700 on a welder depending on the model and brand

make bars, but dont tell anyone about the forks untill they are tested by a pro rider and they are perfected .. unmmmmn that thin of cro-mo is pretty thin i woud go thicker. and get a TIG welder they take more time a skill to use but the welds are better.. i think..

u need a tig welder to weld cro-mo properly but u can do it with mig but if u do the filler wire will be steel witch wont be as strong

Scott get kyle's cousin John to do it. He welds steel all the time. He's gonna weld me up a fork whenever i take it over there.

i wanted my own welder tho =/ cuz i wanna make a bunch of different tests and see like whats stronger and stuff

you should really take a class or find an experienced welder before you get a welder, if you just buy a welder and try to weld with out any instruction you could burn or electrocute yourself.

umm not rely i welded for the first time no instruction or class or even seen a welder before and i did a wonder ful job my freind said...my freind has been welding for like 7 years now
all he did is say pull the trigger and make ne shape u want to weld them together

you just said that you have never seen a welder, but your friend just happens to be a welder. Im guessing that you used your friends welder, and that he set it up and supervised you to make sure everything was done safely. Also you were using a mig welder which is the easiest and safest welder to use. Im not saying that you cant weld with out instruction, im just saying it isnt safe to. You are dealing with a large amount of heat and electricity in an open environment, and if you dont know what your doing, that is unsafe.

if you want quality welds, a tig welder is the way to go. theyre expensive and good welds take a lot of practice. youll definitely need a teacher.

mig welds will work, the equipment is cheaper and easier to use and you could probably learn from internet videos.

i major in welding at school. im saying just go with mig, itll save you tons of money in the long run. either get a short circuit or pulse machine.

they dont give much information about it but 24 gauge is pretty thin so yea youll be able to weld the chromoly. just make sure you use ER70S-2 wire, and try and get 92/8 gas (92% argon, 8% co2)
