If everyone keeps riding in time it will progress. But, what do you want scootering to be? It could evolve to be like skating and be trendy with a bunch of posers or it could be a sport with serious riders. If you want it to be like skateboarding then ride street in your videos. Think about it, do you ever see park or vert in skate videos? Frankly, I think it would be better if scootering became its on entity. Wouldn't it be better if scootering was not as big as skating but not be so diluted instead of being as popular but be a poser sport.
Another idea would be to get filming crews together or teams. I snowskate and there are lots of people making teams with their friends and selling shirts and making a video. Not a minivid but a serious 25-40 minute dvd with extras and such. Teams really do help out, I bet Mack Dogg Productions and Neoproto (snowboarding film crew) started super small at first.
For the most part just ride for fun and forget about what others think. Different, varied, and unique riding is also needed for progression. Vert, flatland (pogos, etc.), dirt, snow, whatever, we need more than generic double whips over funboxes. Are you really going to see people who make fun you again in life after college? When people taunt others they will get what they deserve.
(p.s. not all of skating is posers because I skate but alot of it is, oh and unicycling has legit stuff, check out unicycling.com and check out "movies")
