Okay first off, VX2100 is pretty much a fix for glitches in the VX2000, which you probably wouldn't notice anyway. So obviously the 2000 was discontinued when the 2100 came out. The 2100 actually has the slightest bit better lowlight performance, but you can't even tell the difference unless you look at them side by side.

VX2100s have been discontinued from what I know. You see some new ones pop on up on ebay, but I don't know any stores online that sell them anymore. I guess Sony is really trying to push HD onto its customers. Your pretty much forced into finding a new one on ebay or grabbed a used one. Also look into DVX100 and GL2 if you want to stay SD, although both of these cameras can not meet the lowlight that VX2100 can achieve.

What's the best HD Mini DV camera to get for around $1500.00? Because i want good quality footage. I never looked at it before but i just looked at youtube test videos for the Sony VX2000 and it's not that good quality.

If your intentions of buy a camera to put video onto youtube i recommend just getting a some kind of small compact camera like an Canon HV30 or Canon HF20 and use the rest of your money for accessories.

My intention's are filming for a lot of things. Making some sponsor video's for some friends. ( Yes they are good enough ) I will be filming for some non - scooting related things as well. Also once i get products in my store ( In development, click siggy ) i will be filming the promo for that. I need something HD, durable, and a really good camera overall. I can spend up to $1500.00. What would you get in this situation?

Probably a Canon HF or HV, decent mic and decent liquid head tripod. Maybe a fisheye, but thats not my style. 35mm lens adapter would also be an option if your artsy, but than you have to drop money on a lens for that.

Mini DV is def more reliable. But slowly the industry is changing to tapeless media like it is with HD. I would never buy a hard drive camera unless there is access to the hard drive to change it if something were to ever happen to it. I would switch to P2 cards any day if i could afford it (a camera that supports P2 is not in your budget, so SD is the next best thing). I'd go for one of these Canon HFs if i ever wanted to switch to a tapeless budget HD camera.

Im sticking to my DVX until i have the money to upgrade to an HVX or better, because I like having complete manual control over my image. With the HFs and stuff you don't have complete control, but you get a decent amount.
