why do companies do this

Skateboarding has had several falls though with many brands dissapearing overnight, with pros getting together and starting up their own brands..look at what Girl/Plan B did in the 90's when skateboarding had come full circle and was dead..so to speak

For me, I worry more about the quality of the part I'm buying than the image of the company. The companies with a more mature image make the better parts anyways because they are run by people who are active in scootering and know more about the market.

this.

They purposely do that because then people can fall for it as being a childish product and then they come out with a big product that will drop people's jaw about it?

For anyone who doesn't look at Lucky's Facebook page, they are filming a television commercial, showcasing a 7-8 year old. Yet again, Lucky makes our sport look like its full of snaking little children.

Tony Hawk and Matt Hoffman are like 45 fucking years old. Where would they be today if kids didnt buy there shit and help financial push their sport? It is bigger than the people in this forum, its about creating generations of people that love scootering. Business makes decisions based on making money. Business targets those who buy there products. Like it or not scooters are rode by kids 12-18 years old..

There already are generations who love the sport. But as they get older they see that even the companies that make scooters make them seem like a kids toy. And they quit. This causes the sport to not grow because the older, good riders quit and the standard of riding is put in the hands of the younger riders and then they grow older and quit and it's a big cycle and this leads to our sport not growing. If you watch some videos from 2008 you see tricks being done that people are still doing today and considered hard. This shows that the sport is not progressing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8cf4A1SE90 This is just one example of many.
I can name a handful of OGs from the bay area that used to ride and killed it back in the day but quit riding because they saw that scootering is headed in the wrong direction.

Generations are not 2008 to 2012. The equipment is getting better. More people are riding. More companies are making or sell scooter parts. Places like Woodward are beginning to host scooters. OG's are managing stores and some are getting paid to ride. I would call that progression

I would say we are progressing, skateboarding does the same thing, there are legit, and rider owned, then there are the companies that are in it for the money.

I don't see a problem with it,as long as it keeps bringing people into the sport.
