Why do You need a crown race?

Yes, the bearings needs it to keep the headset compressed.

I don't use one. But certain forks need them. Like my SMX and striker work fine without one but my lsv3 wouldn't

Your headset won't sit right. It'll break, over tighten, or wobble.

My headset is wobbling right now and ive tightened my SCS as hard as I can

well you dont have a crown race do you sooo...(unless you have one) but they are important as they make the bearings spin properly and keep out the dirt

yes they do it depends they may not just use the one that comes with your headset

if you're riding a standard headset with unsealed bearings, you need one. If you're riding sealed or integrated you should ride one, but you can go without it.
